What we do
We handle every aspect of a Spanish inheritance on behalf of non-resident heirs — from the first will search to the final transfer of assets into your name. All in English.
Service 1
The first question in any Spanish inheritance is: who has the legal right to inherit? Spanish law has strict rules about forced heirs (herederos forzosos) who cannot be disinherited, and a precise order of intestate succession when no will exists.
We identify all heirs, review the will (if any) and explain clearly who inherits what and in what proportions — including the impact of the EU Succession Regulation 650/2012 for international families.
Service 2
We search the official Spanish Will Registry (Registro de Actos de Última Voluntad) and obtain a certified copy of the most recent will. We also advise on whether a foreign will is valid in Spain and handle its apostille, translation and recognition before the notary.
Service 3
We conduct a comprehensive search of all Spanish registries to build a complete, official inventory of the estate — property, bank accounts, vehicles, investments, life insurance and business interests. We also identify all debts so you know exactly what you are inheriting before you decide whether to accept.
Service 4
We manage the full acceptance process: from the Deed of Acceptance (Escritura de Aceptación de Herencia) at the notary to filing the inheritance tax return and registering property in your name. We represent you under power of attorney — no travel to Spain required.
Service 5
When the estate's debts exceed its assets, or when the inheritance tax cost outweighs the benefit, renunciation may be the right choice. We assess the full estate and advise honestly before preparing the formal notarial deed of renunciation on your behalf.
Service 6
Spanish inheritance tax varies enormously depending on the region, the relationship between heir and deceased and what assets are involved. We apply every legitimate national and regional reduction, bonus and exemption to minimise what you owe — including the rights recently extended to non-EU resident heirs following the European Court of Justice ruling.
Service 7
If you own property or other assets in Spain, making a Spanish will is one of the most valuable things you can do for your heirs. It makes the inheritance process faster, cheaper and more certain. We draft the will in bilingual Spanish–English format, advise on applicable law choices, and arrange signing at a notary in Spain or at your nearest Spanish consulate.
Tell us about your situation and we will explain exactly which services you need, what the process involves and what it will cost. No obligation.
